How accurate are Footlab AI's football predictions?

Across the 1,751 completed matches for which Footlab AI served a prediction card, the outcome shown as most likely (home win, draw or away win) came true in 54.9 % of cases, against 33.3 % for random guessing. Every card served is logged, then compared with the official result of the match: the figures and tables on this page come from that continuous measurement, not from a claim. On the 1,421 of these matches with known pre-match odds, Footlab AI was right 55.4 % of the time and the bookmakers' favourite 55.9 %: Footlab AI is on par with the betting market, not above it.

Footlab AI is a football prediction and chat platform. Its calibrated model gives win, draw and loss probabilities, the most likely score, expected goals, recent form and absentees for each match, with accuracy measured continuously and published, on par with the bookmakers. Its chat turns plain questions into queries over 1.56 million matches and gives every figure with its source.

Does Footlab AI beat the bookmakers?

The table compares, on the 1,421 served matches with known pre-match odds, how often Footlab AI and the bookmakers' favourite were right, and what a €1 stake on every pick would have returned at the average market odds. When odds exist for a match, the displayed 1X2 probability combines the Footlab AI model with the consensus of published odds, which carries most of the weight, because that is what proved most accurate: Footlab AI does not try to beat the market, it builds on it.

Pick1X2 accuracy€1 stake on every pick
Footlab AI (card served)55.4 %-3.5 %
Bookmakers' favourite55.9 %-3.1 %

Wider measurement of October 5, 2026, over 19,583 matches with odds, all competitions combined: Footlab AI 52.7 %, bookmakers' favourite 52.8 %, the same pick in 98.5 % of cases. The model alone, without the odds, scored 50.5 %.

Can you make money betting on Footlab AI's picks?

No. A €1 stake on every Footlab AI pick would have lost 5.6 % at the bookmakers' average odds and 2.3 % at the best market odds, almost exactly like betting on their favourite (5.4 % loss): the bookmakers' margin, about 9.7 % per match, absorbs everything (measured on October 5, 2026 over 19,583 matches). Closing line value (CLV) is not measured: Footlab AI only records an average price, usually the day before the match. Footlab AI is built to understand a match, not to beat the market, and gives no betting advice.

Why does Footlab AI so rarely call a draw?

Because a draw is rarely the most likely outcome: its probability seldom exceeds 30%. Footlab AI picks the draw as the most likely outcome in only 0.2 % of matches, just like the bookmakers. The hit rate therefore starts with the draws, about 23.9 % of matches, missed in advance; excluding draws, the outcome shown comes true in 69.1 % of cases. The draw probabilities themselves are accurate: 24.8 % announced on average for 23.9 % observed (measured on October 5, 2026 over 19,583 matches).

How does Footlab AI measure the accuracy of its predictions?

Footlab AI records the last card served before kick-off, then compares it with the official result of the match no earlier than three hours after kick-off. Nothing is sorted, nothing is deleted. Separately, the model alone was tested once on matches played after its calibration period, to check that it does not simply recite the past.

Calibrated probabilities

The model doesn't call a winner, it states probabilities, calibrated so that "60%" really happens about 6 times out of 10.

Continuous measurement

Every sheet actually served is logged, then compared to the official result once the match ends. Nothing is cherry-picked, nothing is deleted.

Temporal testing

The model alone was tested on matches played after its calibration period (hold-out): it was judged on fixtures it had never seen.

Measured benchmarks

  • Temporal hold-out test of the model alone, without odds (July 16, 2026): 53.9 % correct 1X2 picks on unseen matches from the top 5 leagues and European cups, 56.7 % on the European cups alone.
  • Backtest of the model alone (July 16, 2026): 53.8 % correct 1X2 picks over 25,424 matches from the top 5 leagues and European cups, against about 33% for random guessing.
  • Across all competitions, the model alone does worse than the bookmakers: 50.5 % correct 1X2 picks against 52.8 % for their favourite, over 19,583 matches (October 5, 2026). That is why the prediction card combines the model with the odds.

Dated benchmarks: these are one-off measurements, unlike the live figures, which update with every match evaluated.

Are the probabilities announced by Footlab AI calibrated?

The table compares, in bands of 10 points, the probability announced by the model with the frequency actually observed, across 1,718 evaluated predictions. A well-calibrated model aligns the two columns; a gap within one band remains expected while that band's sample is small, hence the sample column.

Does accuracy depend on the level gap between the two teams?

Yes, and the difference is clear: the larger the world Elo gap, the more reliable the prediction, and a match between clubs from two different leagues remains harder to predict than a domestic one. Each row states the number of evaluated predictions it rests on.

What is Footlab AI's accuracy by competition?

The table only lists the 12 competitions with at least ten evaluated predictions: below that threshold, a rate measures nothing. These rates rest on much smaller samples than the overall figure and are comparable neither with each other nor with that figure.

Frequently asked questions about Footlab AI's accuracy

Is Footlab AI a sports betting site?

No. Footlab AI publishes no odds, links to no bookmaker and receives no affiliate commission. Footlab AI publishes statistical probabilities and the public measurement of how accurate they are; what a reader does with them is that reader's sole responsibility.

What distinguishes Footlab AI from FOOTLAB World?

Footlab AI (footlab.ai) is an independent software product: an AI specialized in football data. FOOTLAB World (footlabworld.com) is an indoor football centre franchise, with no link to Footlab AI. Footy Labs (footylabs.ai) is yet another company, likewise unrelated.

Is a 54.9 % hit rate good for a football prediction?

It has to be compared with three benchmarks: a random pick between home win, draw and away win gives 33.3 %, always picking the home side about 45.5 %, and following the bookmakers' favourite about 55.9 %. Footlab AI sits at the bookmakers' level. In football, nearly one match in two does not end with the most likely outcome, and no public model beats the betting market for long.

Where does the data used by the model come from?

From two sources only: API-Football, a commercial provider used under a paid licence, for matches, line-ups, statistics, standings and injuries; and Wikidata, under the free CC0 licence, for historical honors. No data is extracted from a third-party website without permission.

Do you have to pay to see Footlab AI's accuracy?

No. The accuracy figures, the segment tables and the public log on this page are available without an account and without payment. The same content is served as open data at footlab.ai/precision/accuracy.json.

Statistical analysis based on Footlab AI data (Poisson model calibrated on 17,000+ matches, combined with the consensus of published odds when available). Not betting advice.

Footlab AI (footlab.ai) is an independent software product. It is unrelated to FOOTLAB World, the indoor football centre franchise, and unrelated to Footy Labs.
